About Anne Frank

Anne Frank, a young Jewish girl, was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany in 1929. This was a time when unemployment was at an all-time high and poverty plagued the country. One of the primary causes was Adolf Hitler; his party was gaining more supporters and making life increasingly difficult for Jews. He took advantage of the power he had as the ex-chancellor of Germany and instituted various measures to persecute Germany’s Jewish citizens.

Frank and her family had no choice but to go into hiding in a secret apartment within German-occupied Amsterdam. Otto Frank, Anne’s father, was a prosperous businessman before the Nazi government came to power. Unfortunately, Anne Frank and her family members were discovered in 1944 and sent to concentration camps. Anne succumbed to the disease Typhus in March 1945, which was a month before Allied soldiers arrived at the camp.
